Magnetic topology during the simulation of an ELM crash in ASDEX Upgrade
Poincare map of the magnetic topology during an ELM triggered by cryogenic deuterium pellet injection in ASDEX Upgrade. The heat fluxes onto the inner and outer divertor targets are also shown. The Poincare map is produced by following thousands of magnetic field lines for 100 toroidal turns and drawing a point every time they cross the same poloidal plane.
